Beyond therapy toward Leadership, Life Purpose, and using Collective Intelligence for solving our social problems

This group uses a structured approach to group life. The primary engine for group development is the communication process developed by Yvonne Agazarian called 'Functional Subgrouping". Functional Subgrouping is a process of joining and building on each other, thereby creating an emergent flow of communication around existential similarities. Differences are worked as new subgroups form. This method benefits group development by facilitating the integration of conflict and differences that generate unique emergent outcomes rather than stereotyped superficial communication around differences.

Therapy skills taught in my groups, such as centering, grounding, the ability to explore rather than explain, the ability to be in the present moment, the ability to not take system dynamics just personally, ability to track one's experience of being triggered and managing anxiety and frustration, will be useful. We will be training a new skill, of crossing from one's personal experience to learning increasing ability to see the contexts we are in and to take up membership in these contexts in ways that support your own goals while supporting each system's goals.

Format: A talk introducing systems ideas Subgrouping directed toward goals of community, leadership, and the organization of one's purpose. A coffee break with a bit of social time. Looking back at our subgrouping work to see what we learned, the phase of system development we are in, and how we might apply our learnings in our lives.

New Members: New members are welcome by invitation or application. Orientation for new members 30 minutes before the meeting or by arrangement.

Feedback recent Systems Oriented Workshops
“ I was deeply impressed at being able to communicate intensively at a process level without  going into personal (historical) content, and also by the pace of the workshop.  Working with “subgrouping” is an amazing technique for getting clear what actually happens between people.”
Harriët Ordelman, Trainer, Coach

“I found it a wonderfully practical weekend and a truly liberating experience; Peter is an expert guide. He is a born teacher!”
Urmila

What I really found valuable was how we as a group became more and more in the “here and now’ and more open; something that gave us the space to investigate the things that drive our behavior in a very respectful way. Peter Bernhardt’s professional guidance, engagement and presence really allowed this to happen. Very exciting for me to think of how I can integrate Systems theory and practice into the work I currently do with groups in a therapeutic setting
Tanja Mars / TAOS. Trainer, Coach and Therapist

“It was really incredible for me that one day of a Systems Oriented workshop had the same effect on me as several days of intensive meditation. This really is meditation in action!” Olaf, Organizational consultant and 20 year meditator“.

I enjoyed the workshop immensely. I generally find things like this terribly confronting but this was completely inspiring and a fascinating experience to be part of. ”  Participant

“It was a very special workshop for me. I have less misgivings and judgments about people now.” Michael, Professional musician and administrator/teacher
